The Role
As Lab Applications Engineer you will support the R&D organization by maintaining the laboratory related research -and GxP- applications. You will act a system administrator and work on the interface between key users, application vendor and IT, to implement and maintain optimal functioning applications with many users. You will be part of a team of Lab Applications Engineers, , embedded in the E-systems team within Research Operations
Responsibilities
  • As part of the E-systems team, you will contribute to the implementation and management of state-of-the-art systems and software applications for various business critical laboratory processes, focusing on user centric system administration activities.
  • You have up-to-date knowledge on implementation, administration and maintenance of software applications that guarantee data processing, data transfer and data storage (such as electronic notebooks, electronic monitoring systems and/or LIMS-like applications).
  • You contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the laboratory related research and GxP applications and systems in close collaboration with Quality Assurance, IT, Data Science and Key Users.
  • You will provide proper documentation of the software applications by writing applicable procedures, deviations and change management documentation, and contribute to writing of user requirement specifications and performance qualification test scripts and related reports.
  • You will train the users to guarantee the implementation and the correct use of the application within the organization according to internal SOPs and regulatory guidelines, and identify and implement potential improvements during the life cycle of the application.
Requirements
You are goal oriented and have a ‘getting things done’ mentality. You take initiative, enjoy working in a team and inspire others with your enthusiasm. Moreover, you meet the following professional requirements:
  • You have at least a bachelor degree in biotechnology or an equivalent education within life sciences field, preferably with some wet lab experience in a laboratory environment.
  • You have a background in IT management, the natural sciences, life science informatics, or similar discipline
  • Experience with a GxP and knowledge of Data Integrity, GAMP 5 & 21CFR Part 11 is desirable
  • You are interested in system administration, validation and change management of complex laboratory applications (LIMS, Inventory Management, SCADA, ELN, and other relevant lab software)
  • You are interested in contributing to several projects in parallel and working in a flexible way
  • You are motivated by delivering high quality results
  • Documenting your work comes natural to you and you have a service orientated mindset
  • Experience in programming (such as, VB(A), VB.NET, Python, Java) is not mandatory but desirable
  • Familiarity with Quality Management and Document Managements systems desired
